Billy Ray Smith, 53, had a preliminary hearing and a hearing regarding his bond on Wednesday. The preliminary hearing was postponed until May 12 because the police report had just been given to Smith’s defense counsel.
Smith, who had been free on bond from charges filed in Bryan and Johnston counties, was arrested again Tuesday after his bond was revoked because he violated the condition of his bond by being around children unsupervised, court papers state.
Because of that, Bryan County Associate District Judge Rocky Powers ruled that Smith’s bond remain revoked.
Smith was charged in Bryan County in December after police investigated allegations that he had sexual contact with a 15-year-old boy in the parking lot of Calvary Baptist Church in Durant.
An affidavit states that the boy said he had been sexually abused by Smith for approximately two years.
Last week, Smith was charged in Johnston county with second-degree rape and two counts of forcible sodomy. These charges were filed after more victims came forward, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
He is on administrative leave with the school.
