Traffic was blocked from all directions on Highway 69/75 Wednesday after a truck driver slammed his rig into the River Road Bridge over the highway at 1:08 p.m. The driver escaped with minor injuries and the truck burst into flames.
Firefighters from Calera, Colbert and Cartwright fought the fire.
Northbound traffic was routed to Franklin Street in Colbert and southbound motorists were directed to Highway 91 in Denison, Texas.
A bridge crew will be on site today to conduct an inspection.
One northbound lane of Highway 69/75 is closed and the overhead bridge on River Road is still closed until it can be inspected. The department of transportation hopes to be able to open it back up by the end of today.
In other accidents, a Kingston teenager was killed Wednesday after he crashed his pickup in Marshall County.
Joseph Lee Harrison, 17, died at the scene of the 6:12 a.m. crash on Rock Creek Road south of Kingston, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
According to the patrol, Harrison was southbound when he drove his pickup off the right side of the road, struck a bridge guardrail and rolled two times.
Harrison, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected approximately 56 feet.
Trooper Dusty Pruitt of Marshall County investigated the accident. Bryan County Trooper Kyle Ince assisted.
