One more day left for absentee voting

DURANT – There is one more day left for absentee voting before the primary runoff election on Tuesday.

Voters who want to vote early may do so from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday at the Bryan County Election Board Office, 217 N. 16th Ave.

Regular voting for the primary runoff will be from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at voting precincts.

Democratic voters will be choosing between Jerry Tomlinson and Nathan Williams for State Representative District No. 21, a seat currently held by John Carey, who did not seek reelection. Tomlinson is the mayor of Durant and Williams is a former Calera council member.

The winner will face Republican Dustin Roberts during the November general election.

The election for Bryan County District No. 1 commissioner will be decided during the primary runoff. Incumbent Monty Montgomery is being challenged by Charles E. “Chuck” Downs.

Democrats will be choosing between Jay Perry and Clay Andrews for Bryan County Commissioner District No. 3. This office is currently held by Ivan Kelly, who did not seek reelection.

The winner will face Republican Robert Brewer during the November general election.

Tuesday's election also features a statewide Republican primary runoff for insurance commissioner between John Crawford and John Doak. The winner will face incumbent Democrat Kim Holland.

Republican voters in the 2nd congressional district in eastern Oklahoma will pick a nominee from Daniel Edmonds of Morris and Charles Thompson of Hulbert after neither secured a majority of the votes in the six-man GOP primary.

The winner will take on incumbent U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, the state’s lone Democrat in the congressional delegation.
