An accident occurred this morning on Highway 70 just in front of the Department of Human Services office in Durant.

Durant Police Officer Scott Phelps said that a man driving a blue truck pulled out of the DHS parking lot and ran into an SUV traveling westbound on highway 70.

Phelps said the man did not yield to the right of way while exiting a private drive and Lindsey Wallace, driver of the other vehicle, did not have time to avoid the collision.

“He just pulled out in front of us,” said Wallace. Wallace said she tried to get over but couldn’t do so in time.

According to Phelp,s the man driving the truck was taken by Bryan County EMS to the hospital for possible head injuries. No other injuries occurred.
