BOKCHITO — Four of Boswell’s starting five scored in double figures Tuesday to take a 67-50 road win over the Rock Creek Mustangs.
Markell Henderson led all scorers with 21 points, followed by 14 from Cameron Collier (10 of those on free throws) for the Scorpions. Blake Shults added 12 and Cameron Roberts was hot from outside with nine of his 11 points on a trio of three-pointers.
Bronson Burns led the Mustangs with 11 and Cameron Hammond added 10. Ethan Mitchell had eight, David Dill scored seven, Leo Roper had six, Toby McIntyre got all five of his points in the first quarter, and Tyler Parker added three.
The Highway 70 rivals played a close first half as Rock Creek survived Scorpion runs. Boswell led 17-15 after a quarter and held a slim 31-29 lead at halftime. Henderson landed a soft dunk to give the Scorps a 29-23 lead before the Mustangs went on a 6-2 run to end the half.
Henderson then scored five straight in the third to push the lead to eight. Hammond scored on an assist from Burns and got Rock Creek within 48-41 at the end of the third.
A three from Shults opened a 12-point lead for Boswell, but the Mustangs clawed back within seven points before running out of time.
The result evened up the win-loss column for both teams: Boswell (ranked No. 11 in Class A preseason polls) improves their record at 2-2, while Rock Creek falls to 1-1. The Scorps host Clayton on Thursday, and Rock Creek will host Silo.
