MARIETTA – The Silo Lady Rebels fell short to the Marietta Lady Indians 43-37 on Monday night despite 17 points from Rachel Grider. Kenslie Stanley also finished in double-figures with 13 points.

The Lady Rebels closed the first quarter on a 6-0 scoring run to tie the game at eleven.

Grider opened up the second quarter with a three-pointer to give Silo the lead. Grider nailed another three-pointer later in the quarter to give the Lady Rebels a 23-17 lead at halftime. The Lady Indians came out firing early in the third quarter and went on a 9-0 run to take a 26-23 lead. Silo answered with a solid finish to the third and clung to a 29-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Indians grabbed a one-point lead in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter when Shelby Langston drained a three-pointer to make it 35-34.

Stanley answered with a layup and a free-throw, and Silo regained the lead. Unfortunately for the Lady Rebels, Marietta took the lead for keeps when Langston canned another three with 1:25 left to play.

Antolina DeLaTorre clinched the win for the Lady Indians when she went three for four from the free throw line in the final minute of the game.

The Lady Rebels enjoy some time off for Christmas break before their next game against Coalgate on January 8.

Boys:

Coach Duane Shaw’s Marietta Indians were too much for the 16th-ranked Silo Rebels, defeating the Rebels by a final score of 57-41. Leonard Sandler was the high-point man for Silo and finished with 12 points.

Marietta benefitted from three double-digit scoring performances from Tyler Tatum with 16, Davonte Finch with 15, and Tyler Neely with 10.

Thanks to a substantial defensive effort from Marietta, the Rebels were unable to find any rhythm on the offensive end, although they kept it close until the fourth quarter.

Kannon Dry hit a three-pointer from the corner at the buzzer to give the Rebels a 13-10 lead after a very evenly-matched first quarter. The lead was short-lived and Tyler Tatum hit a three-pointer for the Indians on the opening possession of the second quarter. This momentum swing fueled a 7-2 scoring run for Marietta.

The Indians outscored Silo 17-4 in the second quarter to take a 27-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Rebels stayed close in the third quarter and Sandler hit a jumper to cut the Indian lead to eight points at the end of the quarter despite threes from Neely and Robert Santana-King for the Indians.

Jarris Hamilton hit a three-pointer for the Rebels on the first possession of the fourth quarter to make it 38-33. This was as close as the Rebels would come, and the Indians pulled away for good with 6-0 scoring run. The Rebels will host Coalgate on January 8 after the break.
