A Frisco, Texas, woman has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute following a traffic stop by Calera Police.

Letha Lynn Thompson-Cooke, 35, was arrested last week after a traffic stop by Calera Police Officer Mike Graham, who pulled Thompson-Cooke on Highway 69/75 because her pickup had its fog lamps on when not required.

According to an affidavit, Thompson-Cooke, displayed gestures common with methamphetamine users and she was vague about where she was going.

She denied a request to search, the affidavit states, and Graham then deployed his K-9 on the vehicle and the dog alerted to the presence of drugs. During a search of the vehicle, police found baggies of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and also a green, leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.

Thompson-Cooke was booked into jail.

In other crimes, Deputy Vinny Cacace investigated a theft in the 200 block of Archibald Street. Donald Glenn Sisk said that upon returning home, he discovered his television had been stolen and several drawers had been looked in. A security camera was also taken.

A vacant house burned early Sunday morning, according to the Durant Fire Department, who were dispatched at 12:06 to 215 S.E. Second Ave.

When they arrived three minutes later, the house was fully engulfed. Firefighters put out the fire, and according to the fire department, the vacant house was not secure. The contents were a total loss.
