Four Durant High Wrestlers placed in the top six of their weight division in the 5A East Regional Wrestling Tournament which was held at Tulsa Edison High School on Feb. 15, 16. There were 16 teams competing in the East Regional. One will move on to next week’s State Tournament at the Fairgrounds Arena in OKC.
Blaise Gorges a sophomore at Durant High was a Regional Champion in the 220 lb. weight class and will wrestle Feb. 22, 23 in the State tournament.
Gorges won all three of his matches in the Regional tournament by fall and takes a 20-5 record into the state tournament.
Other Durant placers in the Regional tournament were Jared Woods (5th place), John Woods (6th place), and Ty Jackson (6th place).
Jared Woods (138 lb.) went 5-2 in the tournament to finish 5th and is considered an alternate for the State tournament. Jared finished his Junior season with a record of 26-4.
Ty Jackson (120 lb.) went 3-3 in the tournament to finish 6th and finished his Junior season with a 18-14 record.
Freshman John Woods (132 lb.) went 3-3 to finish 6th and ended the season with a 22-8 record.
