DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern returns home to cap a busy week of baseball when it steps back into Great American Conference play with a three-game series against Southern Nazarene March 15-16 at The Ballpark in Durant.
The Savage4 Storm opens the series with a single game on Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a double-header on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m.
SE comes into the contest at 12-10 on the season after a rare three-game, midweek series against Angelo State on Tuesday and Wednesday in which the Storm dropped two-of-three.
Southeastern is also 6-6 in GAC play and has won its last two league series, taking down Harding and Arkansas Tech who are currently in third and second place, respectively.
The Storm have lifted their team batting average to .271 on the season which is tied for eighth in the league, while four players have pushed their averages above .300 thus far on the season.
That group is led by Evan Ramsey who has been a force since finding his way into the lineup, lifting his average to .391 with team-highs of six home runs and 21 RBI. He has homered in each of the last four series on the year dating back to SE’s games against Tarleton State. His homer total is tied for the GAC lead, while his 21 RBI is good for fourth in the league, four behind the leader.
Travis Caraway is another player that has dialed it up in recent weeks, moving his average to .341 on the year with a home run and 14 RBI.
Tucker Alexander checks in with a .333 average and is second on the team with 15 RBI, while Ryan Salter is hitting .322 and leads the GAC with 18 stolen bases.
Southeastern’s pitching staff took its licks against a big-swinging ASU club, allowing 28 earned runs over three games which accounts for 34.1 percent of all the earned runs the Storm has allowed this season to date.
Vance Woodruff continues to pace the starting rotation with a 2.09 ERA, but has slipped to 1-4 on the year with 31 strikeouts and an opponent’s batting average of .225.
Brandon Marris saw his ERA tick up to 3.96 on the season as he continues searching for that elusive first win of the season despite striking out 29 and holding opposing hitters to a .268 average.
David Cagle has come on strong as well to fill out the rotation, jumping to a 2-0 record in seven appearances and five starts with a 3.38 ERA. He has struck out 19, but holds opponents to a .194 average.
Cameron Mann leads the bullpen with a 2.92 ERA that accompanies a 3-0 record and 25 strikeouts. He leads the team with five saves and holds opponents to a .245 average.
Eddie Cervantes leads the team with four wins while compiling a 3.24 ERA with a team-best .180 opponent’s batting average.
SNU comes to town with a 6-13 record overall and a 3-9 mark in GAC play and has dropped 11-of-its-last-14 contests.
The Crimson Storm are led by a trio of everyday starters with .300-plus averages, with Chance San Miguel leading the charge at .392 with team-highs in home runs with four and RBI with 15.
Nate Saquilon and Jacob Inbody post .300-plus averages at .343 and .338, respectively.
The SNU pitching staff carries a 6.11 ERA combined, while Saquilon leads the starters with a 5.06 mark and a 2-2 record.
David Kaplan has both Crimson Storm saves on the season, but carries an 8.44 ERA in 5.1 innings pitched over seven appearances.
