Joyce (Shannon) Self was born September 9, 1938 in Austin, Texas to Julius Otto and Lola Elizabeth (Mullinex) Shannon and passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 73.

Joyce has lived in Durant since 1951 and graduated from Durant Public Schools and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University for two years. She worked for First Texoma National Bank for 37 years until her retirement. She was member of the Coleman Avenue Church of Christ in Colbert and she enjoyed OU Sooners football, reading and TV.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Julius and Lola Shannon; sister Frances Garrett and brother James Shannon.

Joyce is survived by her husband Garry Self of the home; daughter Shannon McIntire and husband Gary of Houston, TX; sister Doris Cummings of Durant, OK and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Coleman Avenue Church of Christ in Colbert. Quinton Gage and Richard Gage will officiate.
