Emma Brewer Leikam was born on Monday, June 23, 1930 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Lonnie and Mary Creasman Brewer and passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at her home in Durant at the age of 82.

Emma has been a lifelong resident of Bryan County. Emma married Loftis Houston and to this union were born five children. Later in life she married Barney Dodd and to this union were born two children and later she married Bob Leikam. She retired from Levi Straus Jean Co. after 40 years and she was of the Pentecostal faith and she enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with family and friends.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son Mark Dodd; daughter Mary Robinson; brothers William and Donald Brewer; sister Helen Smith and three grandchildren Steven Newkirk, LeAnn Newkirk and Shawna Dodd.

Emma is survived by her children Richard Houston and wife Dawn of Wasilla, Alaska, Lilly Newkirk and husband Lloyd of Calera, OK, Norma Huffman and husband Joe of Bokoshe, OK, Rodger Houston and wife Diane of Durant, OK and John Dodd of Heavener, OK; step sons Chuck Leikam and wife Kristen of Upstate New York and Bobby Leikam and wife Tina of California; 24 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 20, 2012 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Jack Ball will officiate. Interment will follow in Bokchito Cemetery with grandsons Robert Newkirk, Joey Clary, Allen Robinson, Zach Rodgers, Aaron Newkirk, Preston Newkirk, Lonnie Houston and Jeffrey Houston serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 7-8 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
