Haskell D. Burney a resident of Vallejo, California passed away in Walnut Creek, California on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the age of 75 years 9 months and 30 days. He was born in Mead, Oklahoma on Sunday, January 24, 1937 to Haskell and Lois (Brown) Burney. Haskell married Genell Balogue in 1959. She preceded him in death in December 2011.

Haskell was a man who appreciated the beauty of nature. He loved hunting and fishing and riding his Quad Runner in the mountains. Haskell went to school in Durant, Oklahoma and was of the Baptist Faith. He joined the navy and met his wife Genell to whom he was married for 53 years. Haskell was a licensed mechanic for Volvo motors for many years until her retired. Haskell loved and cherished his family He was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend whom will be truly missed by all.

Mr. Burney is survived by his; sons, Joe and Henry Burney of Vallejo, California; daughter, Donna Burney of San Franciso, California; sister, Gwen (Bruney) Poppe of Bokchito, Oklahoma; nieces, Denna Wingfield and husband Scott of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Tracy Conder and husband Terry of Alva, Oklahoma; nephews, Mark Johnson of Albany, Oklahoma, Tink Johnson of Durant, Oklahoma, Brent Knight of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Randy Shepherd and wife Diane of Southmayd, Texas, John Shepherd and wife Gina of Antlers, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Burney was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Lois Burney; wife, Genell (Balogue) Burney; son, Haskell Burney Jr.; brothers, Harold, Edward and Donald Burney; sister, Lavanda Shepherd.

There will be a graveside service at the Mead Cemetery Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM Bro. Kerry Groce officiating.
