Lee “Dokie” Hamby, 82, (formerly of Durant) a retired school teacher and minister, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bro. Danny Russell will officiate. Pallbearers include Jay Foster, Dave Adams, David Zachary, Richard West, Claude Cain, and Rex Grove.

Lee was born on September 18, 1930 to Bill and Edith (Tinsley) Hamby in Yuba, OK. He was united in marriage to Glenda McDonald on May 31, 1952 in Durant, OK. Lee was a minister and a retired math teacher for Haltom High School from 1967-1985. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Lee was a member of the Cottondale Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Anthony Lynn Hamby and wife Joy; his sisters, Alice Wells and Martha Hamby.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Glenda Hamby of Paradise; his sons, Ronnie Hamby and wife Audrey of Aurora, Keith Hamby and wife Donna of Fort Worth, Burl Hamby and wife Wanda of Fort Worth; his daughters, Gay Sanford and husband John of Cottondale, Vonna Kebort and husband Jeff of Cottondale; 13 grandchildren ; 22 great grandchildren; his brother, Tinsley Hamby of Clara; his sisters, Shirley Coburn of Houston, Eula Bell Suiter of Lindale, and Jackie Degraffinreid of Oklahoma City; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
