Ernest J. Gobert, 68, of Kenefic, Oklahoma, passed away on November 26, 2012, at his home. He was born July 9, 1944 in Cenderville, Louisiana to Bessie and Ernest Gobert. He was one of fourteen children. Ernest was married to Angela Dianne (Rose) Gobert from 1962 to 1985. They shared four children; Angela, Quint, Brian, and Tara. They resided most of those years in Houston, Texas where Ernest worked as a steel worker for Jet-Fab Steel and later owned Shannon Steel. Ernest moved to Durant, Oklahoma in 1984 where he operated/owned Gobert Pawn & Fishin’ Stuff until 1992. Ernest married Marilyn Hodges in 1986 gaining 2 sons; Bruce and Anthony, and 2 daughters; Cari and Misty. In 1990 they adopted three daughters; Vanessa, Brittany, and Chicot. In 2002 they adopted a son; Caleb. Ernest loved kids and was so proud to be called “Dad” by all of them. From 1992 until his death he raised cattle, cut firewood, gardened and raised honey-bees. Ernest found Jesus and was baptized at an early age. He felt closest to God when outdoors. He saw God in all things and never failed to see the beauty of a sunrise or sunset. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Bessie Gobert, Brothers; Linus, Wilford, Wilbert, Raymond, Richard, Jacob and Donald Ray, Sisters; Lillian, Agnes, Lena, Hilda, Audrey, and Ilene, sons; Brian and Anthony, and ex-wife Angela Diane Gobert Broyles. Ernest is survived by his wife of twenty-sis and ½ years, Marilyn and son Caleb of the home in Kenefic, Oklahoma, sons; Quint Gobert and wife Anita, Mead, Oklahoma, and Bruce Hodges of Dallas, Texas, daughters; Angela Stone, Denison, Texas, Cari Teegarden & husband Ted, Borger, Texas, Misty Roland and husband Chris, Durant, Oklahoma, Tara Rowland & husband Travis, Durant, Oklahoma, Vanessa Colon and husband Carlos, Woodbridge, Virginia, Brittany Minor and Husband John, Caryville, Tennessee, and Chicot McCain and husband Jeremey, Durant, Oklahoma, grandsons; Nathan Gobert, Cody and David Harkey, Christopher Roland, Jarrett, Toby, and Chase Rowland, Alberto Colon, and John Minor, granddaughters; Ashley Sims, Autumn and Stormy Waters, Amber Gobert, Bailey Roland, Emily Colon, Jennifer Minor and Jaylen McCain, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. It was Ernests’ wish to be cremated so a celebration of life to remember his will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Kiamichi Technology center, 810 Waldon Rd., Durant, Oklahoma. Please come share your memories and celebrate Ernests’ life. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Cremation arrangements were handled by Brown’s Funeral Service, Durant, Oklahoma.
