Jeanne Marie (Hobbs) Rigsby a resident of New Braunfels, Texas passed from this life on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the age of 78 years 4 months and 25 days. She was born in Atoka, Oklahoma on Monday, August 20, 1934 to Richard and Alta Hobbs. Jeanne Marie Hobbs married William Rigsby in Sherman, Texas in April 1953.

Jeanne attended the Atoka Public School and graduated in 1952 as the Valedictorian of her class. She attended Southeastern State College from 1952 thru 1956 graduating with honors with both BA and MA degrees. While teaching Public School in Loveland, Colorado she also took advanced work at Western State College and University of Northern Colorado. She was very active in education programs in both the local and state levels. Jeanne was married to W.E. Rigsby for 59 years and had one child, Eric Rigsby. She retired from teaching at the Loveland Colorado Public School in 1989. The Rigsby’s spent several years traveling and cruising from South America, Southern Europe, and Mexico to Alaska and some of the Pacific Islands. After their travels they settled in Clearwater, Florida for 5 years, then moved to New Braunfels, Texas.

Mrs. Rigsby is survived by her husband, William of the home; son, Eric Rigsby of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many friends who grieve at her passing.

Mrs. Rigsby is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Alta Hobbs; 1 brother; 1 sister.

A Graveside Service in her honor will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Dennis Pena officiating.
