John Lawson Northcutt Jr., resident of Mead Oklahoma, was born May 1, 1921 in Electra Texas to John Lawson Northcutt and Frankie Mary Jane (Kelly) Northcutt. John passed from this life on January 20, 2013 at the age of 91, at TMC in Denison Texas from age related issues.
John lived most of his life here in Bryan County, graduating from Kenefic high school in 1941. He then moved to Burbank California before entering the Army for WWII in 1945. John served in the 112th Cavalry Regiment Combat Team in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and helped liberate the Philippine Islands. After the war, he worked for Lockheed Aircraft for 17 years, helping build the P38 Lightening and the Constellation Aircraft, before moving back to Bryan County in 1960.
John started a trailer park, boat storage, with a gas station and store west of Mead near Lake Texoma. During that time he was President of the Mead School Board. One of the things he was most proud of was being a major part of getting Silo School established. Without all his efforts, as well as others involved at the time, there might not have been a Silo School.
Once retired, he enjoyed his grand children, traveling, and helping family. Even so, he worked just as hard well into his 80’s.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Frankie Northcutt; brothers, Leroy Northcutt, and Richard Northcutt and his spouse Mamie ; sister Melba (Northcutt) Moore and her spouse Joe; and daughter- in-law Jeannie Northcutt.
John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Della Mae (Johnson) Northcutt, 5 sons; John and wife Sue of Lebec, California; Jack of Richardson, Texas; Mack and wife Lynda of Allen, Texas; Tommy of Luella, Texas; Larry and wife Cindy of Mead. Grand Children: ShyAnne (Northcutt) Burkhalter and spouse Eddie Ray of Dallas, Texas; Becky (Northcutt) Adams and spouse Shawn of The Colony, Texas; Kelley Northcutt of Richardson, Texas; Marc Northcutt of Sherman, Texas, and Sarah, Megan, and Lauren Northcutt of Mead, Oklahoma. Great Grand Children; Abigail and Bryna Adams of The Colony Texas.
Due to cremation, services will be held at a later date. You may contact the family for further information. Condolences may be left at www. americanfuneralservice-fh.com.
