The Bryan County Turning Point Coalition gave away 423 backpacks to local students during its annual Back to School Bash Saturday at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center & Library.

Lion Legacy Park is in the works

The committee for the Lion Legacy Park project to make Durant the first city in the nation where every park is allinclusive held its first meeting recently to discuss plans for moving forward with the project.

Downtown restaurant has ribbon cutting

The renovation of a historic downtown building constructed in 1909 has been completed with the opening of The Artisan restaurant at Brick Street Hotel.

Durant resident drowns in Lake Texoma

A Durant man drowned in Lake Texoma while fishing from a kayak, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Forty-year-old Billy Cooper was fishing Saturday evening and he was found in the water near the shore Sunday morning about two miles east of Little City in Marshall County, according to OHP.
