The mother of a special-needs student spoke to the Durant Board of Education during a meeting last week and she asked them to change district policy and require a monitor on busses that transport special-needs students.

School district to have bond election

The Durant Board of Education approved in a meeting last week a resolution for a special election to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds that the district says will not cause an increase in property taxes. J.C.

The Durant Lions didn’t have to look far for their next head baseball coach as Jimmie Wyrick has added the spring sport to his fall fast pitch softball duties. Wyrick is no stranger to coaching both softball and baseball, having done both as recently as 2014 as the skipper at Atoka.
