Fallen local law enforcement officers were honored and remembered during a Law Enforcement Memorial Tribute May 15 at the Choctaw Nation Amphitheater.

George Washington students run in memory of Clara Robinson

Clara’s Run in memory of Clara Robinson was May 13 and this was a one-mile run for George Washington Elementary second, third and fourth grade students at the high school track.
Durant City Council voted to name the baseball fields the Rick Mote Legacy Baseball Diamond in honor of recently retired city employee Rick Mote, who worked 47 years for the city. Parks manager Ryan Brewer asked the council to approve this and he said Mote was a dedicated employee.

Baseball fields named Rick Mote Legacy Baseball Diamond

The baseball fields at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex were named the Rick Mote Legacy Baseball Diamond in honor of Mote, who served 47 years with the Parks and Recreation Department until his retirement in April.

Baccalaureate held for Durant High School seniors

The Durant High School Senior Baccalaureate was Sunday at Durant First United Methodist Church and the speaker was Anderson Reign, who is a pastor, spoken word poet and motivational speaker. Reign grew up under the neon lights of Las Vegas, Nevada, before moving to Durant almost four years ago.
