Savage Storm winning streak balloons to 11

The wins just keep on coming for the Southeastern men’s basketball team as the Savage Storm win streak reached 11 on Saturday with a dominant 93-68 victory over Henderson State. That followed up an impressive 9574 triumph against Ouachita Baptist as they closed out a four-game homestand as the Savage Storm remained entrenched atop the Great American Conference standings with just two regular season games remaining.

New district changes for Durant soccer in 2024

For the first time in six years the Durant High School soccer teams will have a new flare in the 2024 schedule as the Lions will face a district slate loaded with western Oklahoma squads. That District 5A-1 slate includes long-time foe McAlester as well as Duncan, Elgin, Lawton Mac, Noble, Santa Fe South along with Choctaw, which drops down from Class 6A.

Caddo boys win area, Lady Bruins back to state

The defending state champion Caddo boys cruised back to the state tournament with an area championship while the Lady Bruins also punched their ticket with a consolation title in Class A playoff action last weekend in Madill.

Silo splits 3A district finals with Hugo

Silo girls notched their second victory in a week over Hugo while the Rebels fell to the perennial powers on the boys side in Class 3A district championship action last week. The Lady Rebels scored a 58-51 triumph over the visitors to improve to 1511 on the season while the Silo boys were on the short end of a 68-47 count.

Polk reaches 4th state wrestling tourney

Senior Addison Polk qualified for the state wrestling tournament for the fourth straight year as the lone Durant grappler to reach the 2024 event despite several picking up regional victories. Polk was a third place finisher at 105 pounds in the girls regional and will go into this weekend’s state tournament in Oklahoma City with a 31-5 record.

Calera sweeps Colbert for 2A district titles

Strong first half starts propelled Calera to a sweep of rival Colbert for the Class 2A district championship on Saturday night. The 12th ranked Lady Bulldogs steadily pulled away in the opener to topple the visiting Lady Leopards, 60-38, while improving to 23-2 on the season.

Lions drop Senior Night pair to Tulsa Rogers

Durant basketball teams wrapped up the regular season last week with a pair of tough losses to Tulsa Rogers on Senior Night. In the opener, the Lady Lions had a pair of opportunities to take the lead in the final minute but were unable to convert in a 50-45 defeat.
