A Mead woman and a Bokchito teenager were hospitalized from crashes this week and last week, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

On Monday, three eastbound vehicles were involved in a collision at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Highway 70 at Silo Road. According to OHP, 32-year-old Logan Erbst of Gordonville, Texas, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer in the inside lane. Sharon Denney, 67, Mead, was driving a KIA Soul and was stopped for the traffic light, and Zabrina Stphens, 30, Kingston, was driving a Jeep Cherokee in the outside lane.

OHP said the Trailblazer struck the Soul and the Trailblazer then veered into the outside lane and struck the Cherokee.

Denney was taken by Bryan County EMS to Alliance-Health where she was listed in stable condition with neck, arm and trunk-internal injuries at the time of the OHP report. Erbst was treated at the scene for minor injuries and Stphens was not injured.

Unsafe speed for traffic conditions was listed as the cause of the accident and all drivers wore seat belts, according to Trooper James Reinecker’s report. The Durant Fire Department, Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police and the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

In other accidents, a 17-year- old boy from Bokchito was injured during a 7:28 a.m. crash March 14 on Bray Road near Hotel Road about six miles south of Bokchito.

According to OHP, the teen was driving a GMC pickup eastbound at a high rate of speed when he went over a hill in the wrong lane. The driver then over corrected and the pickup traveled off the roadway and struck two trees. The teen was taken by Bryan County EMS to Texoma Medical Center in Denison where he was listed in stable condition with leg and head injuries at the time of the OHP report.

Speeding was listed as the cause of the crash and the teen was wearing a seat belt, according to Trooper Jerrid Hobbie’s report. The Wade Fire Department and the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

In other emergency calls, Durant firefighters were dispatched at 2:02 a.m. Monday to Love’s store on West Main Street at the bypass for a refrigerated semi trailer that was on fire. When firefighters arrived, the driver said he used a fire extinguisher to try to put the fire out, according to a DFD report. The fire was put out and it did not spread to the cargo area.

Firefighters responded at 1:09 p.m. March 15 to a stove top fire at 509 W. Georgia St. When firefighters arrived, police were on scene and advised the fire was already out. Firefighters removed a frying pan and cookie sheet from the stove top and took them outside. A fan was set up to ventilate the home of light smoke.

A water heater caught fire March 10 at a 4724 Ciara Drive home. When firefighters arrived at 6:46 p.m., the occupants were outside and said they had turned off the breakers to the home. Firefighters entered the home and put out a small fire at the base of the water heater, according to a DFD report. They then used a ventilation fan to clear the house of smoke.
