Caddo, Silo capture district softball crowns

Two-time defending state champ Caddo began its playoff quest for a third straight slow pitch title last week, posting three shutouts in Class 3A district tournament action.

Silo, meanwhile, cruised to dominant wins as well with a Class 4A district tournament sweep of Hartshorne.

Both teams will host regional tournaments this week while vying for the slow pitch state tournaments that are slated next week at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

Caddo softball

Offense was definitely on display in the district tournament, but the Lady Bruins also utilized stellar defense in a 12-0 blanking of Clayton as well as 22-0 and 18-0 throttlings of Konawa.

Caddo racked up 14 hits in only three innings of work against Clayton, including six in the opening stanza. Kadey McKay keyed the charge with a pair of home runs and four runs batted in, although Jaycie Nichols led the team with three hits in the contest.

Rylan Peevyhouse, Presley Beck and Logan Busby contributed two hits each with Harlee Taylor also adding two RBI with a hit.

It was all Lady Bruins in the Konawa opener as they raced to 12 runs in the first stanza and never looked back with seven of the team’s 22 hits going for extra bases.

Peevyhouse had a huge effort at the plate with three hits, including a double, along with four runs batted in. Anna Adair posted three hits, including a double, with Logan Busby also adding three hits. Both scored three runs.

Jaycie Nichols, Beck, Jordyn Nichols, L.B. Smothers and Gage Vaughn tossed in two hits apiece.

It was another scoring showcase in the second game, thanks in large part to a wild 17-run second inning explosion that saw Caddo bat around the lineup twice.

McKay had the lone home run, but the Lady Bruins also picked up a triple from Adair along with Beck and Kayden Prince doubles.

Kayden Cowan chipped in three hits and drove in three as Prince knocked in four and had two hits. McKay had two hits and drove in three.

Silo softball

The Lady Rebels bats were red hot in the opening game against Hartshorne as they smacked 26 hits in only three innings on the way to a 27-0 thrashing.

Silo bolted to 11 runs in the very first inning and the hosts also tallied 15 runs in the third stanza.

Neely House, Brooklyn Toney and Connie Tubby also blasted homers in the early uprising with the Lady Rebels picking up two home runs from Toney as well as Makayla Clark, Connie Tubby and Jayden Sexton.

Toney had three homers and drove in six while House and Tubby posted three hits as well and drove in four apiece. Clark ended with three hits and also three RBI with Cache Atwood and Kamrey Hendricks also posting three hits.

Tubby blasted two home runs while Avery Beachamp chipped in a double and triple.

A 13-1 blitzing followed for the district title over Hartshorne with Toney’s massive hitting day continued with a pair of home runs out of her three hits. Henricks, Beauchamp, Bree Ginn and Kostina Tubby all smacked two hits.
