Two-time defending state champ Caddo toppled area foe Silo twice to reach the finals but couldn’t overcome powerhouse Washington, finishing runner-up in the Beast of the East Slow Pitch Tournament at Stonewall.

The Lady Bruins cruised past Coalgate and Stuart in the tournament before toppling Silo, 19-1, and then falling to Washington by a 19-17 count in the winner’s bracket finale.

Silo then battled back with a pair of loser’s bracket triumphs before running into Caddo again for a 15-5 Lady Bruin win that left them in third place. Caddo was on the short end of a 27-23 slugfest against Washington in the tournament finale.

In the first Caddo win against Silo, the Lady Bruins had a home run extravaganza as they blasted 10 out of the park while Silo had just one.

Kadey McKay, Rylan Peevyhouse, Timber Hensley and Jaycie Nichols each homered twice to pace the offensive charge with Jordyn Nichols and Presley Beck adding one apiece.

The Lady Bruins came up just shy against Washington as they carried a 17-15 lead to the final half inning before the Lady Warriors smacked a grand slam that proved to be the difference.

Fresh off back-to-back wins, Silo forged a rematch with Caddo and dropped a 15-5 decision, but Caddo saw a late rally fall short in the championship despite pushing across 11 runs in the final three stanzas.

This time it was 12 home runs for Caddo as a late rally fell just short. McKay and Jaycie Nichols each belted three homers while Beck and Hensley added two apiece. Peevyhouse and Gage Vaughn each contributed a homer.

The Lady Rebels’ lone two losses in the tournament came at the hands of Caddo as they smoked Ada, 20-7, and outlasted Kiowa by a 19-18 count to start the tournament.

Following the initial defeat they rebounded with an 8-6 win against Coalgate and 9-1 over Latta.

Connie Tubby smacked two homers against Ada and Avery Beauchamp provided the heroics with a two-run walk off single to beat Kiowa.

A big comeback was in store during the Coalgate contest as the Lady Rebels erased a 6-3 deficit with a fiverun uprising in the fourth.

Neely House smashed a two-run homer to start the rally as Bree Ginn contributed a three-run blast for the final cushion.

Another massive fifth stanza helped put the finishing touches on Latta as Silo scored seven times and cruised the rest of the way.

The Lady Rebels tallied 16 hits in the game with three coming from Makayla Clark and two each by Tubb, Ginn, Brooklyn Toney and Jayci Webb.
