Silo tuned up for the Class 4A slow pitch playoffs in impressive fashion last week, posting six wins in seven games with the only loss coming to 6A powerhouse Moore.

The fourth-ranked Lady Rebels scored a pair of wins over fellow 4A top 10 members Latta (16-0) and Coalgate (5-3) to open the week before bouncing Class A top-rated Binger-Oney, 3A number three Ripley and 2A fourthranked Sterling.

Although it was at the start of the week, the 16-0 dismantling of Latta may have been the most impressive Lady Rebel result of the week as they blitzed the Lady Panthers from the start with 11 first inning runs as well as five more in the second for the run rule.

Neely House blasted a home run as one of her two hits and drove in six to pace the offensive attack. Connie Tubby and Brooklyn Toney also went deep. Against Coalgate it was an RBI triple from Avery Beauchamp that proved decisive.

Bree Ginn belted three homers and knocked in five to fuel the 14-1 win against Sterling while Makayla Clark and Toney each blasted two roundtrippers in the loss to Moore.

They rebounded to edge Ripley, 10-9, as Ginn hammered a pair of home runs and drove in five. Silo then finished off the Dale Festival with a 16-8 drubbing of Binger-Oney with Toney slamming two more homers with five RBI.

Caddo softball

The defending state champs returned to the top of the Class 3A slow pitch rankings this week following an exceptional week that included 13-4 and 10-8 victories over previous number one Tushka.

Caddo rode that second win along with 4A sixth ranked Coalgate (12-5) along with Class A number two Red Oak (13-1) and fifth-rated Turner (12-2) to cruise to the Caney Tournament championship.

In the title game, Kadey McKay smacked a home run and drove in four while Jaycie Nichols also homered as part of her three hits and knocked in another three runs.

The Lady Bruins outhit Red Oaky by a whopping 15-1 margin by blasting 15 hits, including a Nichols home run.

In the pivotal first Tushka outing, Rylan Peevyhouse drove in a team-high four runs with a pair of hits, including a home run. Jordyn Nichols also homered and knocked in three.

The second Tushka matchup was a much tighter affair as Caddo plated two runs in the sixth inning and another pair in the seventh to hold the Lady Tigers at bay.

Presley Beck tallied four hits, including a homer and knocked in three runs. Logan Busby chipped in three hits with Peevyhouse adding two hits and three RBI.

Calera baseball

Ranked seventh in Class 2A, Calera capitalized on strong pitching throughout last week, recording four wins before falling to Wright City, 7-2, in the Coleman Tournament championship.

The Bulldogs scored a pivotal 1-0 victory against Latta to start the week with sophomore Logan Bumgarner twirling a pitching gem. He scattered five hits and struck out 11 in the seven-inning complete game. Calera’s lone run came in the fifth following singles from Hazyn Applegate and Ryan Dunn and squeeze bunt by Chaffin.

They picked up a 4-2 win over Caney and then toppled the Cougars again, 6-4, in the tournament semifinals.

Talon Rose was up to the pitching task in the first meeting, firing a complete game one-hitter that included four strikeouts and four walks.

In the other meeting, Calera capitalized on four walks and a pair of Caney miscues to take the lead for good with a four-run fifth inning.

Coach Ricky Teafatiller’s club got three hits from Cody Langley in the title tilt but came up short against the Class A fourth-ranked Lumberjax.
