The Bryan County Democratic Party (BCDP), in partnership with the Oklahoma Democratic Party, is participating in “Come Home, Oklahoma,” a campaign encouraging Independent voters and Democratic-aligned Republicans to register as Democrats.
Doing so would allow such voters to participate in the party’s 2026 primaries and would encourage them to support Democratic candidates from filing day to election day.
The last day for voters to change their party affiliation before the primaries is March 31.
Independent voters have already shown strong engagement with Democratic candidates in Oklahoma, noted Pat Notley, Chair of the Bryan County Democratic Party. She pointed out that more than 18,600 Independent voters have participated in recent Oklahoma Democratic primaries.
“Many Independents remain politically aligned with Democratic priorities such as lowering costs, strengthening public schools, and expanding access to healthcare,” Notley said.
The “Come Home, Oklahoma” campaign focuses on reaching Independent voters, as well as Republicans unhappy with the direction of their party, on issues such as health-care accessibility, affordability, and government transparency.
Newly registered Democratic vot- ers are encouraged to attend monthly meetings of both the BCDP (usually the fourth Tuesday at 5:30 pm at Donald W. Reynolds Library in Durant, but the March meeting will be the fourth Tuesday at 5:30 pm at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in the Student Union) or the Bryan County Federation of Democratic Women (at noon the third Tuesday at the Donald W. Reynolds Library).
Men are welcome as auxiliary members at BCFDW meetings.
