Caddo graduate receives Engles scholarship

Bracie Gray, a 2024 Caddo High School graduate, is the fourth recipient of the Anita Jeanette Engles Memorial Scholarship. Gray will be attending Murray State College this fall where she will study nursing with plans to focus on pediatric specialization.

Her academic record and application essay were outstanding. Gray was a member of the National Honor Society, President of FFA , as well as active in community volunteerism.

Engles was a 1956 honor graduate of Caddo High School. After her death in September of 2020, her family created a scholarship fund to honor her memory and legacy as a professional educator. She retired from Southeastern Oklahoma State University as a tenured professor and distinguished faculty member of the Education and Psychology Department.

The Anita Jeanette Engles Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the sole purpose to assist Caddo High School graduates in their education through college or technical school. As a high school teacher and college professor for more than 30 years, Engles provided guidance and was a positive influence to countless students. Her own experience at Caddo High School and the lifetime friends she made inspired her family and friends to create this scholarship fund.
