Bryan County Schools were honored this month with two Kiwanis Students of the Month. From Colbert High School was Kristin Webb. Ms. Webb has a GPA of 4.09, is Honor Society President, and was named class Salutatorian. Therefore, she is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. Representing Colbert Student Council, Kristin attended the state-wide Stuco Conference. She has enriched Colbert’s high school experience by developing and organizing the Game of Life (a simulation of real-life experiences for fellow students), films and staffs The Chat Cat You Tube channel, and facilitates Veterans Day school programs as well as school spirit events.
Kristin’s volunteerism extends beyond high school to Colbert elementary school. Ms. Webb plans the Pumpkin Patch, the Easter Egg Hunt, and Early Reading Intervention experience. Her community service includes initiating blood drives, volunteering for Colbert Fall Festival, and creating holiday cards for local nursing home residents.
Her future post graduation plans include traveling and journaling/ blogging about her experiences. She hopes to learn a new language in addition. In the fall of 2025, Kristin hopes to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in marketing with a minor in journalism or political science.
Kristin sees herself as “somebody who intends to use my education not only for myself but also for the ones around me. I want to utilize the resources and skills that my college education will provide me to benefit the communities I am a part of…” Ms. Webb was awarded a certificate and a gift card making her in consideration for Kiwanis Bryan County Senior of the Year and a $1,000 scholarship. Attending the presentation with her were her parents Allen Webb and Sara Webb as well as Colbert Public Schools Superintendent Taylor Matlock.
Representing Silo Public Schools as Kiwanis Bryan County Senior of the Month was Raini Methany. Raini’s senior year accomplishments are National Honor Soci- ety, BETU, FCCLA as Vice President for Public Relations, Principal’s Honor Roll, Senior Class Vice President, and FCA.
Ms. Methany’s community volunteerism focuses on her individual service. She picks up liter on highways, prepares dog houses for the animal shelter, and visits the elderly with gifts and cards. Raini also helps with patriotic events such as the Veterans Day Parade by presenting American flags. She was an Oklahoma State Delegate for Woodmen Life.
Upon graduation, Raini is focused on attending Kiamichi Technology Center to earn an Associate Degree in nursing. Then she plans to transition from LPN to being a RN through a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Ms. Methany was given a gift card and will also a candidate for the Kiwanis Bryan County Senior of the Year and the $1,000 scholarship. Accompanying Raini to the presentation were her mother, Mishael Methany, and her grandparents Mike Methany and Pat Methany as well as Silo School Academic Counselor, Stormy Lewis.
