Kiwanis Durant High School December Senior of the Month is Jordan Davenport. Mr. Davenport holds a 3.9 GPA while being concurrently enrolled in college. He has been a two-year member of National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, and Oklahoma Indian Student Honor Society. He also was named the Boyce Timmons Achievement Award-American Indian Male Student. His extra curricular activities include football, baseball, and power lifting.
Jordan’s career plans are focused on the medical field; he has been accepted to Oklahoma State University. His high school curriculum has centered in this direction. Jordan was a delegate to the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists, a National Anatomage contestant, a participant in the Health Occupational Students of America, and co-president and president of HOSA.
Community and service volunteer hours were completed primarily through organizing HOSA blood drives. Other hours were dedicated to Colton’s Run, Choctaw Cultural Center Truck and Treat, and Choctaw Nation Pow Wow. Jordan sees his strength as being a strong communicator with leadership skills.
Mr. Davenport was presented a certificate as DHS Student of the Month and a gift card. He is eligible to win a $1,000 scholarship. Jordan was joined at the ceremony by his parents Sean and Crystal Davenport and DHS Principal Amber Bullard.
Kiwanis Bryan County December Senior of the Month is Raven Lowery representing Bennington High School. Ms. Lowery has served on the Youth Advisory Board for five years, was enrolled in Upward Bound for three years, and participated in Academic Team for four years (currently co-captain). Raven currently attends Kiamichi Technology Center focusing on Graphic Design and Content Creator. She is BSA vice-president. Upon graduation, Lowery plans to attend an art school or a trade school with programs dedicated to art and content creation.
Serving on the Youth Advisory Board has given her opportunities to serve her community through food drives, coat collections, and mentoring other students.
Raven was given a certificate and gift card at the ceremony. She will be considered for a $1,000 scholarship as Kiwanis Bryan County Senior of the Year. Joining her at the presentation was her mother Pamela Lowery and Bennington ISD school counselor Mary Pierce.
