The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will host a free public screening of the documentary “Tiger” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at The District in the Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant, 4216 S. Highway 69/75.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Complimentary light refreshments will be available.
The 12-minute documentary by director Loren Waters chronicles the triumphs, challenges, and resilience of the Oklahoma-based Mvskoke Creek family, whose name has become synonymous with Native American art – Tiger. The film centers on Dana Tiger, who was 5 years old when her father, renowned Muscogee/ Seminole artist Jerome Tiger, passed away.
“Tiger” premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it earned the Short Film Special Jury Award for Directing, followed by numerous additional honors. Waters, who is Cherokee and Kiowa, has also received acclaim for her work on the Oklahoma-produced television series “Reservation Dogs.
