Peanut butter collected for Hands of Hope

Several entities joined forces to collect jars of peanut butter that were donated last week to the Hands of Hope food bank.

Tracy Trotter, marketing manager, AllianceHealth - Durant, said this was the fourth year for the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive.

“We have partnered with Pruett’s Foods, First United Bank, Red River Ford and Choctaw Nation Health Services,” Trotter said.

“They have all pitched in and provided peanut butter or monetary donations to go towards this and it’s going to be donated back to Hands of Hope.

Brett Rogers, First United Community Bank President, said the bank was happy to partner with AllianceHealth, who led the project.

“Of course, being a community partner that does things in the community, I love seeing other corporate partners doing things and so we reached out to see how we could help,” Rogers said.

According to Rogers, First United has worked with Pruett’s over the years, and the grocery store has matched donations such as food and bottled water.

“We raised $500 with the bank,” Rogers said. “Pruett’s matched it, so we were able to buy 436 jars of love and of course, Alliance had things. These jars will go from here to there to your homes out in our community. So yeah, partnering with people that can get a lot of resources to the people that need it, great partners, Hands of Hope, I appreciate them being the boots on the ground.”
