NASHVILLE, Tenn. – National Beta members from Silo recently participated in the 2026 National Beta Convention held in Nashville, Tennessee June 16-20. Six Silo students joined thousands of Beta members from across the United States to celebrate academic achievement, leadership, character, and service while competing in a variety of national competitions. During the convention, members from Silo earned recognition in the following events: Silo graduate Denver McBride placed first in 12th grade social studies, and Silo junior Brody Roberts placed tenth in 10th grade Psychology.
National Convention provides opportunities for students in grades 4-12 to showcase their talents through individual and team competitions, leadership experiences, service initiatives and networking opportunities. The annual event brings together top-performing students who have advanced through state conventions and earned the opportunity to compete on the national stage. Silo students qualified at state and regional Beta competitions to compete at the National Convention in a team presentation, two team tests, two individual tests, and six art divisions.
McBride served as Oklahoma state Vice President this past year, and this is his second national convention to attend.
“Going on stage in front of so many Beta members from across the country to represent Oklahoma and my club was one of the coolest experiences from Nationals,” Mc-Bride said.
Silo High School Beta Club has had five state officers since its inception in 2009, including two presidents. It currently has fifty members, and Silo also has a threeyear- old Junior Beta Club that has had two state officers. Silo Beta Clubs do service for the school, as well as helping with local Special Olympics events and the Pregnancy Center annual banquet.
With more than 500,000 active members and 14,000 clubs nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization.
