Six Boy Scouts of Troop 615 were awarded their Eagle Scout ranks during a recent ceremony at Durant First United Methodist Church.
The following became Eagle Scouts because of their projects: - Braxton Manous built a GaGa ball pit at the Durant Intermediate School.
- Kyric Lehrling built fishing habitats and placed them at the dock at Lake Durant.
- Denver McBride built fishing line disposal units and placed them at popular fishing spots at Lake Durant.
- Kaleb Eggenberg restored and repaired the livestock corrals at Fort Washita.
- John Salas built helmet and bat holders for the dugouts at the Rock Creek High School baseball field.
- Zach Doshier built a GaGa ball pit at his church, Sunset View Baptist Church.
Scoutmaster Tony Lehrling and father of Eagle Scout Kyric, said each of the Scouts walked a long, challenging and rewarding path to reach the moment of becoming Eagle Scouts.
“Along the way, they have demonstrated leadership, perseverance and a commitment to service that reflects the very, very best of scouting,” Lehrling said. “Our Eagle Scout rank is far more than completing a check list of requirements. It marks the growth of a young person into a leader, someone who recognizes a need, envisions a solution and brings others together to make that solution a reality.
“Each of these Scouts has done that exactly through their Eagle projects, leaving meaningful, lasting improvements in our community.”
