Durant Lawyer John E. Barbush has been honored with an Oklahoma Bar Association President’s Award during the recent statewide bar convention in Norman. OBA President Miles Pringle of Oklahoma City recognized Barbush for his efforts to advance the administration of justice according to law and promote a professional judiciary in the state.
“Lawyers recognized with President’s Awards are those who work diligently every day to make a profound, positive impact on their communities, our state and the legal profession,” said Pringle. “Mr. Barbush’s efforts to educate lawmakers and the public about our state’s exemplary method of judicial selection were noteworthy, and I am proud to honor his commendable achievements with an award this year.”
Barbush currently serves on the state bar Board of Governors representing Supreme Court Judicial District 2, which consists of Atoka, Bryan, Choctaw, Haskell, Johnston, Latimer, LeFlore, Marshall, McCurtain, McIntosh, Pittsburg, Pushmataha and Sequoyah counties. He is a solo civil trial attorney who practices in the areas of torts, business litigation, securities and family law. He is a trained mediator and has served as an arbitrator. He is also a graduate of Ambassador University, where he was a studentathlete and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration before attending the OCU School of Law.
The 18,000-member Oklahoma Bar Association, headquartered in Oklahoma City, was created by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to advance the administration of justice and to foster and maintain learning, integrity, competence, public service and high standards of conduct among Oklahoma’s legal community.
