Few Durant football quarterbacks over the past three decades have possessed the true all-around athleticism and moxie of Bo White.
White was a stalwart in just about anything he participated in for the Lions whether that was football, soccer, basketball and even baseball one year. He guided the DHS football team to back-to-back state playoff appearances in his junior and senior campaigns.
The Lion athletic legend will join his brother Max as 2025 inductees into the Durant Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Friday, October 10 prior to the Durant home game with Tulsa Edison.
Throughout his high school career he dazzled Lion faithful with his tremendous ability for success until eventually graduating in 2008.
White was a three-year letterman in football, captured one in baseball, earned four basketball varsity letters as well as starring on the soccer field for four seasons. He picked up All-State honors in soccer his senior year as well as football where he was selected as an Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State quarterback.
His senior season statistics alone were amazing with 1,594 yards rushing and 30 touchdowns along with 1,159 passing yards and five more scores. That’s more than 2,700 yards total offense and 35 touchdowns in just 11 games.
Bo was a key member of the renowned Durant basketball team which reached the state semifinals after stunning highly touted John Marshall in a four-overtime opening round classic.
After initially intending to walk on to play football at the University of Oklahoma, White elected to stay in Durant for a season at Southeastern, where he scored the winning touchdown to defeat East Central in his final football game ever.
White chose then to try the soccer route in college and earned first-team All-Region honors in 2009 and 2010 at Northeastern A&M Junior College. He then moved onto Northeastern State and produced a Hall of Fame career.
His awards for the 2012 season for the Redmen is staggering to say the least with first-team All-Conference recognition along with All American, Conference Player of the Year and Central Region Player of the Year. That all culminated by being chosen as the University’s Male Athlete of the Year for 2012-13.
Bo was inducted into the Northeastern Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 and will now follow suit with his high school alma mater alongside his brother on October 10.
