Choctaw Cultural Center wins two state awards

The Choctaw Cultural Center came home with two honors from the Oklahoma Museum Association’s 2024 Conference. This is the first time the three-yearold tribal facility has received awards from the state organization.

At the annual event winners from museum facilities across the state were named in a variety of categories.

The Choctaw Cultural Center won the Exhibits category for Shomo Takali (Hanging Moss), one of four landscapes in the center’s permanent exhibit.

It also won the Publication category for “Vlla im Anoli” (“Tell the Child”), the biannual children’s magazine distributed to those in the Group Membership program.

“Educating people about the vibrant history of the Choctaw Nation is a critical part of our mission,” said Scott Wesley, DSL, senior director of the Choctaw Cultural Center. “We thank the Oklahoma Museum Association for recognizing the care and effort that has gone into developing our Cultural Center.”
