MARTIN TUCKER
The U.S Department of Treasury announced that Martin Tucker, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma was recently appointed to the Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee (TTAC).
The Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee advises the U.S. Secretary of Treasury on matters related to the taxation of Native Americans, the training of Internal Revenue Service field agents, and provides training and technical assistance to Native American financial officers. Tucker will be one of seven appointed committee members.
“It’s always good to see the Choctaw Nation represented on national committees like the TTAC,” said Chief Gary Batton. “Martin Tucker is deeply engaged with Indian Country issues and has been instrumental to the function of the tribe. He will prove to be an excellent addition to the committee as well as an advocate to Indian Country.”
Tucker’s professional career and civic engagement has centered around serving tribal communities, primarily on the Choctaw Nation’s reservation. Before serving as the CFO of the Choctaw Nation, Tucker worked in various banking organizations in high-level positions. As the CFO, he works closely with Choctaw Nation’s leadership to effectively steward the Nation’s financial resources to the benefit of tribal members, communities, and for the strong perseverance of the Choctaw Nation’s sovereignty.
Tucker also serves as mayor of Durant.
Tucker is highly recommended for the position. Chairman of the Board for FirstBank and former OK Tax Commissioner Steve Burrage, Oklahoma Senator David Bullard, and U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin all submitted letters of support for Tucker’s appointment to the committee.
The Choctaw Nation Tribal Council passed a resolution supporting his nomination in November of 2022.
