Bryan County Commissioners tabled action on entering into an agreement with Theorem LLC architecture for the design of a new building to house county offices.

In May 2023, Commissioners Scott Goad, Tony Simmons and Brandon Carr approved a contract to purchase property at 301 N. Fourth Ave. where a new building will be constructed for county offices, including the District Attorney’s Office that is presently in the old Plaza theater, a building that needs extensive renovation.

The proposal for an architectural design for the new building from Theorem will cost $157,100. Goad asked if this something that needs to be advertised for bids, and Simmons replied that it was a question for the auditor but he thought the answer was, “yes.”

The vote was tabled until the next meeting, pending contacted the county’s auditor.

The old Federal Building downtown at 224 W. Evergreen St. had previously been donated to the county by the Choctaw Nation which at the time, commissioners planned to renovate. However, they learned this would be cost prohibitive due the building having Asbestos that would need to be removed.

Commissioners also discussed appointing someone to the Bryan County Excise Board. Charles Calhoun had served on the excise board for 17 years until he died on Jan. 16.

Action on this was also tabled and names of possible candidates will be discussed at the next meeting.

Commissioners also dis- cussed the following agenda items: - Tabled approving Carriage Point Acres plat.

- Approved applications for public utility road crossings for Bryan Drive and Mockingbird Lane where natural gas lines will be placed.

-Approved an Oklahoma Department of Transportation County Action Report to make sure all roads are reported to the state so the county receives appropriate funding.

- Approved a resolution naming a private road Maple Lane.

- Voted for the Bryan County Health Department to advertise for bids for lawn service.
