For the second week in a row, Bryan County Commissioners Scott Goad, Justin Boone and Brandon Carr tabled voting on a burn ban for Bryan County during a Monday meeting.
Commissioners had previously tabled this during a Jan. 5 meeting.
Bryan County Emergency Management director Cody Allen said Calera Fire Chief Brian Norton sent a message to fire chiefs in the county and at that time, seven fire departments were in favor of a burn ban. There are 15 fire departments in the county.
“They’re calling for a chance of rain, sleet and snow again this weekend,” Boone said.
Allen replied, “We’re still dry for the next two weeks. No chances.”
Boone said he watched the news that morning and there was talk about a chance for rain again.
Allen said he had been looking at the National Weather Service and did not look further.
Commissioners will bring it up again if the need arises.
