Put on your park attire, grab a hat, invite a friend or neighbor, and bring your best ideas to Schuler Park, between 4th and 5th avenues at W. Poplar Street, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15.
In the heart of historic Durant between Main and the University, the 2.5-acre Schuler park is ripe for new ideas, new programs and new equipment to serve the interests and needs of the neighborhood.
Walk around the park, study the adjacent stream, and meet the city’s Park director, Ryan Brewer, who will outline the current plans for new playground equipment and explore other uses and activities that might be added. The program also will feature hands-on activities and discussions on topics such as composting, native plants and water conservation from the Bryan County Extension Center..
Also, enjoy a special performance of the Durant Green School band.
Free and open to everyone, the DSC-sponsored program will provide a friendly forum for neighbors to discuss ways to transform this “community space” into an even more welcoming, vibrant place for people to gather, enjoy the outdoors, get exercise and perhaps even create a community garden.
