If you’ve recently taken advantage of the unseasonably warm temperatures, you may have decided to get an early start on spring cleaning. If you have extra trash and debris laying around, we encourage you to sign up for next month’s extra haul.

Free extra hauling is a monthly service for residential utility customers designed to keep miscellaneous debris from collecting and cluttering the City.

To sign up, residents must call Public Works at 931-6659 no later than 3 p.m. on the first Monday of the month. Each household may request to have up to six cubic yards picked up.

Once on the list, residents are asked to place items at the curb no earlier than 24 hours prior to pickup.

Items for collection can include tree limbs, branches and brush, furniture, carpet, appliances, and bagged grass and leaves. The Solid Waste Department will not pick up car parts or construction debris, including bricks or chunks of concrete.

The next extra haul date is Wednesday, March 6. The deadline to sign up for March pickup is Monday, March 4.
