Kylie House has taken the reins as Bryan County Assessor following the retirement of Mike Hull.
Bryan County Commissioners voted to appoint her as interim assessor and she was sworn in July 1 by Bryan County Associate District Judge Abby Rogers. She is filling the remainder of Hull’s term and she said she plans to file for the office in April 2026.
House has worked in the assessor’s office since November 2023.
“I started at the front desk and then moved into the business/personable side of things and then Mike just progressively slowly started showing me more of the ropes,” House said. “I guess it was early January, he mentioned retirement and he was kind of kicking around that and wanting me to ask if I wanted to take over and finally, I just came in his office and said, ‘Is anybody else wanting to carry out your title,’ and he said, ‘No, do you?’ I said, ”Okay, yes.”
House said she really began enjoying working in the office more and more.
“I’ve always been a go-getter type,” House said. “I like to lead. I was tabling at the casino for almost 11 years prior to this job and I was a supervisor out there as well. It’s just something that drives me. I like my crew. I like being able to fix problems daily and keep myself busy.”
House is a 2012 graduate of Rock Creek High School. She has two boys, ages 8 and 5 that she says keep her going every day.
“I’m just county born and raised pretty much my whole life,” she said.
In a social media post, House said it was an honor to be sworn in as Bryan County Assessor.
“I would like to thank Mike Hull for his guidance and support leading up to his retirement and the confidence he has for me to carry out his term,” House said. “I am blessed with the best offi ce staff, family, friends and cannot wait to see what the future holds.”
