The annual Taste of Durant hosted by Leadership Durant will give residents an opportunity to sample food from multiple local eateries.
The event will be from 6-9 p.m. March 1 at the Choctaw Event Center and the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce described the event as, “The most glamorous, glitzy, and electrifying night of the year.”
“Bring your appetite and your friends, and join us for an unforgettable evening filled with fabulous food, drinks, entertainment, and Vegas-style excitement,” the chamber said. “From dazzling performances to the best bites in town, this is a night you won’t want to miss.”
Savannah Covington, a First Texoma National Bank employee, is a member of the 2024-2025 Leadership Durant class that is hosted by the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce.
She said they are hoping to have about 30 vendors.
“There will be anything from pizza to something sweet to Mexican food, just anything,” Covington said. “We’re trying to stay local with all of our businesses. There will also be a silent auction.”
The theme is Viva Las Vegas, and there will be entertainment throughout the evening.
“It’s going to look good,” Covington said. “It’s a fundraiser for Leadership. “It helps us with being able to go see the local businesses here in the Durant area. So, for some of us like me that haven’t lived here my whole life, I’m able to go and see what Cardinal Glass is like and see all of the businesses and how they run. It’s really cool and we are raising money for not only our class, but we’re also raising it for the community.”
Tickets cost $30 and are available at the chamber of commerce office or from any Leadership Durant member.
Covington, when asked, agreed the ticket cost is a good price.
“Because you are not only being able to go to an event that you can dress up or however you want to dress, you can eat however much you want,” she said. “The vendors are going to be giving out samples. I highly recommend it.”
