A Bokchito man is accused of shooting his son to death during an altercation on May 3.
Fifty-three-year-old Michael David Bragg was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after former felony conviction.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Bryan County Sheriff”s deputies responded in the early morning hours on May 3 to property at Highway 70 in rural Bryan County regarding a shooting.
“When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered 34-yearold Michael Jay Bragg deceased,” OSBI said, in a news release. “It was determined he had suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.”
OSBI agents and deputies made contact with Michael David Bragg, who is the victim’s father, according to the news release. Investigators determined the two were in an altercation before the shooting and the senior Bragg was arrested at the scene.
In other news, a Bonham, Texas, woman was killed during a two-vehicle collision Monday evening on Highway 70 and N. 3980 Road about five miles east of Bennington, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Twenty-four-year-old Olivia Rodriguez was dead at the scene of the crash that happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. OHP said she was a passenger in a Chevrolet Equinox driven by Hunter Banks, 25, Bonham. Banks was flown by Air Evac to Paris Regional Hospital in Paris, Texas, where he was listed in stable condition at the time of the OHP report. A 2-year-old girl was flown to OU Children’s Center in Oklahoma City and is listed in stable condition. Another passenger, a 17-yearold boy, was not injured.
The Equinox was in a crash with a Ford Tauus driven by 37-year-old Marissa Dill of Caddo, who was taken by Bryan County EMS to Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, where she was admitted in stable condition.
OHP said traveling left of center was the cause of the crash that was still under investigation. Dill wore a seat belt but the occupants of the other vehicle did not other than the 2-year-old was in a child restraint seat.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Cody Enloe of the Traffic Homicide Unit and Troopers Trent Mixon, Seth Layba and Josh Harrington. Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office, Bennington Fire Department and Boswell Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The roadway was closed for three hours and 38 minutes.
