A man was arrested Monday after authorities received calls about him pointing a firearm at motorists, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to the Washita Bridge near Fort Washita about a man pointing the gun at people as they drove by that morning.

Sheriff Johnny Christian arrived and the man then dropped his gun and ran into the woods. Deputies set up a perimeter and Capt. Frank Burrola deployed his K-9 “Hares,” and the suspect, Robert Hardage, was arrested without incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Christian said a loaded shotgun was recovered and that there were at least two calls about the man pointing the gun. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who saw the man pointing a gun while driving in that area to call (580) 924-3000.

Hardage was booked into the Bryan County Jail and Christian said he expects charges of feloniously pointing a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and obstructing an officer to be filed through Chickasaw Nation District Court.
