A Denison, Texas, man has been charged with first-degree manslaughter for a crash last year that killed a motorcyclist.
Fifty-two-year-old Ryan W. Kozikowski was charged last week for an Oct. 17 crash that killed 64-year-old James Waters of Mead. Kozikowski also was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of marijuana.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Waters was operating a motorcycle when Kozikowski failed to yield at the northbound stop sign on Leavenworth while entering Highway 70. Waters’ motorcycle then struck Kozikowski’s Mazda hatchback car.
Bryan County EMS pronounced Waters dead at the scene of the crash and Kozikowski received minor injuries to his head and hip, according to Trooper Jerrid Hobbie’s report.
The charges were filed after tests revealed Kozikowski was under the influence of marijuana, according to authorities. Kozikowski had not been arrested at press time this week.
