Man dies from injuries received in wreck

A Utica man died from injuries received in a crash Oct. 5, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Fifty-seven-year-old Raul Garcia Gustamante died Oct. 6 at Medical City Plano, Plano, Texas, according to OHP.

OHP said Gustamante was driving an unknown vehicle at approximately 5:19 p.m. Oct. 5 on Highway 70E south of Harrison Street about one mile south of Utica when the vehicle departed the roadway to the right and struck a fence.

The vehicle then caught fire and Gustamante was flown by air ambulance to Medical City Plano where he was in critical condition before passing away from his injuries.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation at the time of the OHP report. It was not known if Gustamante was wearing a seat belt.

Trooper Joshua Harrington investigated with assistance from Trooper Brycen Collins. Bryan County EMS and the Roberta Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
