Republican Oklahoma governor candidate Mike Mazzei defeated Genter Drummond by 62.63, percent, 2,199 votes in Bryan County during the Aug. 25 runoff election.
Gentner received 1,312 votes, 37.37 percent, according to election returns by the Oklahoma Election Board. Statewide, Mazzei received 50.28 percent of votes.
Republican candidate for superintendent of public instruction James Taylor received 1,775 votes, 53.13 percent, while Robert Franklin had 1,566 votes, 46.87 percent, in Bryan County, however, statewide, Franklin won by 54.63 percent.
Republican candidate for commissioner of labor Kevin West defeated John Pfeiffer by 69.48 percent, 2,306 votes, compared to 1,013 votes, 30.52 percent, for Pfeiffer. Statewide, West won by 58.25 percent.
Marty L. Quinn, Republican candidate for insurance commissioner, received 51.66 percent in Bryan County, 1,714, votes, while Bob Sullivan received 48.34 percent, 1,604 votes. Statewide, Sullivan won the election by 55.13 percent.
Statewide, Republican candidate for state representative District 19 Michael A. Brittingham won against Anthony DeVore by 63.24 percent. In Bryan County, DeVore received 527 votes, 50.24 percent, compared to 49.76 percent for Brittingham.
Democrat candidate for U.S. Senator N’Kiyla Jasmine Thomas defeated Jim Priest by 55.25 percent, 468 votes, while Priest received 379 votes, 44.75 percent. Statewide, Thomas received 61.19 percent.
State Question No. 844 was shot down by 70.69 percent, 3,142 votes opposed, compared to 1,303 votes for it, 29.31 percent, in Bryan County.
Statewide, the question failed by 73.74 percent.
State Question 844 would have added an amendment to the Oklahoma Constitution on how local governments are reimbursed for property tax breaks given to manufacturers.
State question No. 846 passed by 67.29 percent, 3,057 votes, while 1,486 voters, 32.71 percent, were against it in Bryan County. Statewide, it passed by 54.61 percent.
This adds a new section to the Oklahoma Constitution requiring proof of identity to vote in any election authorized by law and conducted by a county election board or the State Election Board.
