Current Durant Board of Education member Joyce Northcutt was unopposed in filing for office No. 5, according to the Bryan County Election Board.
The filing period was Dec. 2-4 with primary scheduled on Feb. 11, 2025 and a general election on April 1 if there had been other candidates who had filed for the offices.
Northcutt will be serving another five-year term.
The election board said all candidates for school boards in the county were unopposed. For Rock Creek, Deidre Munson and Cole Craige originally filed, however, Craige withdrew making incumbent Munson unopposed.
The following board of education candidates, all of whom are incumbents serving five-year terms, were unopposed during the filing period: - Kasey Ervin, Achille Public School - Larry Whisnant, Bennington Public School (board president) - Todd Miller, Caddo Public School (board president) - Brent Sexton, Calera Public School (board vice president) - William Billy Giles, Colbert Public School - Sean Bradley, Silo Public School (board president)
