As a part of its mission to connect Oklahomans to the workforce, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) located at the Durant Oklahoma Works office has recently helped three, soon to be four, individuals find employment with the 49th Street Veterinary Clinic and Pet Spa.

“A core function of our agency is helping Oklahoma job seekers and employers find the resources they need to be successful, especially in an ever-changing employment landscape,” said Trae Rahill, CEO of OESC. “We’re always proud to partner with Oklahoma businesses, like the 49th Street Veterinary Clinic and Pet Spa, to develop a resilient workforce. OESC’s strong community presence is accessible through 27 local community offices and 19 outreach locations across the state. This presence enables us to work closer with businesses and other partners to serve our fellow Oklahomans in the most impactful way.”

The 49th Street Veterinary Clinic and Pet Spa is owned by Matt and Dr. Jennifer Caparoon, and has been serving the Durant community for over four years by providing both veterinarian services and a pet spa.

Each of the individuals connected to employment through OESC work on the pet spa side of the business. Both the clinic and pet spa are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Oklahoma Works office in Durant partnered directly with the job seekers and Dr. Caparoon to secure employment for all parties. Other Oklahoma Works offices in the southeastern region of the state are located in Poteau, Idabel, McAlester, Ada, and Ardmore.

Additional support from OESC is available in Atoka, Pauls Valley, Wilburton, and Hugo through the Community Outreach Service Model, which stations OESC staff throughout the state where an office does not exist. Staff at these stations can assist both job seekers and employers with various services and are typically located at public libraries, technology centers or other public and easily accessible locations. The Community Outreach Service Model locations are available Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
