Voters approved a $785,000 bond proposition for Rock Creek Schools that will fund security improvements and to remodel school buildings plus obtain fixtures and furniture.

In the April 2 election, the proposition passed by 63.55 percent, 333 votes, compared to 36.45 percent, 191 votes, opposed, according to unofficial election returns released by the Bryan County Election Board.

This was the second time for this proposition and it just barely failed in the Sept. 12 election which received 59.50 percent in favor of it. School bonds require a 60 percent “super majority.”

The bonds will have an interest rate not to exceed 10 percent per annum and become due within 10 years.

In a social media post Tuesday evening, Rock Creek Superintendent Rob Frederick said, “I have so many things I want to share and I’m going to spend tonight putting my thoughts together, but for tonight I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

In other elections, Matt Tarr defeated Bryce Segotta in a runoff election for office No. 4 on the Bennington Board of Education.

Tarr received 56.72 percent, 76 votes, while Segotta garnered 58 votes, 43.28 percent.
